FAST PipeMIC FLEX V2

A flexible in-pipe leak detection system up to 50meters

The PipeMic Flex is a professional in-pipe acoustic leak detection tool developed for use on live, pressurised water networks. By placing the acoustic sensor directly inside the pipe, it enables engineers to detect leak noise at source, improving pinpoint accuracy and reducing unnecessary excavation. This model features an innovative flexible sensor tip that houses a high-sensitivity acoustic sensor capable of identifying leaks within the pipe wall. Once a leak has been identified, the pipe route can be traced using standard CAT and Genny equipment. The integrated sonde also allows for accurate tip tracing, enabling precise surface marking above the leak location.

A key advantage of the PipeMic Flex is its ultra-flexible 4.5mm diameter rod. Designed specifically for service pipe applications from 20mm diameter, the rod can negotiate up to three 90° short radius bends in 25mm pipe. It provides an effective balance between flexibility and push strength, allowing long insertion distances while maintaining control. A 12mm brass ball at the tip helps guide the rod through fittings, obstacles and pipe stiffeners.

The system operates between 1 bar and 10 bar and can detect leaks at depths of up to 1.5 metres, depending on ground conditions and tracing equipment used. It is suitable for deployment through multiple access points, including valves, boundary boxes, PE top tees, saddles and hydrants, using appropriate fittings and pressure-balanced systems.

Audio is transmitted via Bluetooth to headphones or an external speaker, while a built-in light bar provides a clear visual indication of acoustic signal levels during operation. The unit is powered by a standard 9V alkaline battery, delivering up to 12 hours of operational use in the field. Designed for the UK market, the PipeMic Flex is WRAS material compliant, with all wetted parts meeting BS6920 requirements or manufactured from materials with existing WRAS approval. Each system is supplied complete with an inbuilt acoustic sensor, integrated sonde, mechanical length counter, external Bluetooth speaker, external chlorination tank and banana connection leads, ensuring it is ready for immediate deployment.
