The SebaKMT Corralux C-3 is a compact and versatile acoustic leak noise correlator designed for accurate leak detection on pressurised water pipelines. Supplied by Synthotech, the C-3 system is well suited to water utility leakage teams requiring a reliable and easy‑to‑use solution for locating leaks on distribution networks and trunk mains.
The C-3 operates by analysing noise generated by water escaping from a pressurised pipe. Two sensors are inserted into the pipeline, typically via valves or hydrants, where they record and transmit leak noise wirelessly to the correlator unit. The system compares the signals from both sensors and calculates the precise leak position based on time delay, sensor spacing, and sound velocity within the pipe.
In its base configuration, the SebaKMT Corralux C-3 uses a wind‑proof ground microphone for pinpointing leaks. Additional sensors can be connected to extend capability, including a feeler rod sensor, piezoelectric microphone, or tracer gas sensor. This flexibility allows the C-3 to adapt to different pipe materials, site conditions, and survey requirements while remaining simple to operate.
The C-3 supports both online and offline correlation. Online mode provides real‑time leak location, while offline mode allows recorded measurements to be analysed over longer monitoring periods, such as overnight surveys. The system is particularly effective on plastic pipes and large trunk mains, where traditional listening methods can be less reliable.
