An Innovative Enhanced Gas Trace System In The Field

Streamlining Leak Detection with the Olli Gas Trace System

Working in close partnership with Rainbow Restoration’s Technical team, Synthotech has supplied a gas trace system, Manufactured by Esders, which is perfectly suited to the types of leak detection requirements the business undertakes on a daily basis. By collaborating directly with the people who use the equipment in the field, Synthotech has been able to source a solution that not only meets technical requirements, but also supports efficiency, reliability, and ease of use in real-world conditions.

To achieve this, it was essential to gain a deeper understanding of Rainbow Restoration’s day-to-day applications. Craig Duthie from Synthotech worked closely with Rainbow’s Technical Manager, Lee Harrington, to review common scenarios, practical challenges, and the expectations placed on engineers attending properties. By combining technical expertise with hands-on operational insight, they were able to select a system that delivers accurate results while remaining straightforward for technicians to operate.

At the heart of the kits we’ve provided is the Esders Olli, a user-friendly gas trace system for internal leak detection. The Olli features a powerful 20-litre-per-hour pump that runs continuously when in “Leak Detection” mode, ensuring consistent sampling and dependable performance. Its integrated H2 sensor is built directly into the ruggedised casing, offering enhanced protection during transport and use. The LCD graphic display provides rapid readings in Parts Per Million (PPM), allowing engineers to quickly identify the presence of hydrogen trace gas. Just as importantly, the display clearly indicates a significant drop in readings when moving away from the hydrogen source, helping pinpoint the exact location of a leak with confidence.

Recognizing that no two jobs are identical, Craig was able to establish a range of kit configurations, using alternative probes compatible with the Olli. This flexibility allows engineers to adapt the system to suit specific environments and flooring types. While the Olli excels in internal applications, it can also be enhanced for occasional external work with the addition of a Carpet Probe, making it a versatile option for mixed-use projects.

For teams whose workload involves predominantly external applications, the alternative Esders “Hunter” system is also available. With a higher 40-litre-per-hour pump capacity, the Hunter is well suited to outdoor environments. A key advantage is that all accessories designed for the Olli are fully compatible with the Hunter, protecting investment and ensuring seamless integration across equipment fleets.

As Rainbow Restoration continues to expand its leak detection capabilities and invest in innovative technologies, Synthotech remains a committed partner, supporting the business with expertise, tailored solutions, and ongoing technical collaboration.
